Not only is Orange County historic but it has a unique history of habitation and development. The past- especially the “recent past” of the mid-to late twentieth-century- is evident on our main streets, in our business parks, and in our neighborhoods and parks. Preserve Orange County was established to bring attention to the full value of our county’s historic built environment. We recognize that history has many points of view and that buildings can be vehicles for a more comprehensive understanding of the past.
The Board of Directors of Preserve Orange County has expertise in preservation law, community organizing, city planning, historic resource management, public history, architectural history and architecture. Together with our volunteers, we work with residents, property owners, local groups, and city officials to advance a vision of urban development that champions the benefits of historic resources and uses the environmental review process to avoid or mitigate impacts on historic resources.
