Donate to Preserve Orange County

Why support the effort to protect the historic built environment of Orange County?

  • To reuse old buildings for new purposes, for environmental, economic and aesthetic reasons;

  • To protect the most significant cultural and architectural resources in the county; and,

  • To save places that are tangible reminders of history and important to the welfare and collective memory of our communities.

Where do your donations go?

Your donations allow the all-volunteer organization of Preserve Orange County to create programming that builds awareness about the historic buildings and landscapes in our county. With your donations we develop walking tours and webinars for the general public and the Preservation Roundtable for local residents who want to build their advocacy tool kit and learn from preservation experts in law, planning, and architecture. We want to design an awards program that will recognize builders, contractors, architects, property owners and community leaders who protect historic buildings, and imagine them anew. We want to continue to fund preparation of nominations to the California Register of Historical Resources and the National Register of Historic Places. These initiatives require spending on marketing, advertising, researching, and writing.

Your tax-deductible donation of any amount will help us build a stronger voice for preservation in Orange County. Thank you.

Preserve Orange County is a nonprofit corporation and tax-exempt charity registered as an IRC section 501 (c)(3).

The banner image above shows historic cottages at Crystal Cove State Park in Newport Beach, CA. In the summer of 2019, the State of California allocated $2.9 million for the restoration of 17 cottages on the beach. Run by the Crystal Cove Conservancy, the cottages “represent one of the few existing lower-cost coastal accommodations along the coast of California.” (Assemblywoman, Cottie Petrie-Norris, June 28, 2019)
