New Book by Board Chair, Alan Hess

Architectural historian and Orange County resident, Alan Hess, has written a new book with co-author, Michael Stern. Published by Rizzoli, the book’s title is Hollywood Modern: Houses of the Stars. Alan’s work on the modern period in California architecture is well-known to many. He’s written definitive books on Googie architecture and ranch houses, but has also authored important works on John Lautner and Frank Lloyd Wright. According to the publisher, this latest book “looks at the intersection of celebrity and design, through the case of twenty-five houses designed by great architects for their informed, trend-setting, and extremely famous clients, in Southern California.”
